FRANKLIN – Jacqueline Edwards Bly, 85, went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 5, 2021. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Crawley Cecil and Athie Jones Edwards. Jackie was predeceased by a daughter, Cherie Bly Perry, a sister, Lessie Mae Beale and a brother, James Cecil Edwards.
She was married to the late Norris Roger Bly. Jackie graduated from Longwood College with a degree in elementary education. She taught pre-school at Franklin Baptist Church and later served as an Elementary and Special Education Teacher for Southampton County Public Schools. Jackie was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, Acteen Leader and a member of the WMU organization. She also served as Home Bound Director. Jackie was a former member of the Franklin Woman’s Club.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Linda Bly Newcomer; grandson, Landon Newcomer; cousin, Charlotte Whitley and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8 in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Faison officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the ALS Association.
