FRANKLIN – Roy Clyde Greene Sr., 72, passed away Aug. 7, 2021 in his home. A native of Gates County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Herman Wayne Greene and Marguerite Whitley Greene and predeceased by two brothers, Wayne and Jerry Greene. Clyde was a member and deacon at Jordan’s Crossing Church. Clyde was the owner of Greene’s Lawn Care and was a former 30 year employee of S.W. Rawls Inc. and Parker Oil Co. He also was working part-time at Food Lion in Courtland and at the recycle stations in Burdette, Carrsville and Camptown. When Clyde wasn’t working or at church functions, he enjoyed collecting hats, all kinds of toy and model trucks, tools and especially knives.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Rosa Chappell Greene; son, Roy Clyde Green Jr.; sisters, Annabell G. Jerningan (Gerald), Patricia G. Connolly and Margie Babb (Brian); three grandchildren, Cortney G Minga (W.C.), Jordyn Greene and Wyatt Greene; a great-granddaughter, Caroline Mae Ming and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and after the service at Jordan’s Crossing. Memorial donations may be made to Jordan’s Crossing, 9428 South Quay Road, Suffolk, VA 23437.
