GLEN ALLEN – Minister Evelyn M. Owens, of Glen Allen,Virginia, peacefully transitioned on Aug. 10, 2021 in her home. The former Franklin native was born on July 7, 1947 to Earnest Stephens and Evelyn C. Hobbs.

Evelyn received her formal education at Georgie Tyler School in Windsor. She was employed with Franklin Equipment for 30 years. Later, she became a sales associate and greeter with Walmart.

Evelyn was a gifted soloist and faithfully served her home church, Piney Grove Baptist Church for many years. She was a devoted wife and supported her husband in his ministry at the church he founded, Liberty Faith Church.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William E. Owens. She is survived by one daughter, Denise O. Giles; three sons, Wayne Owens (Kathleen), Kenneth B. Owens and Michael Owens (Jennal); one sister, Patricia Parker; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many loving friends.

A public viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 to 6 p.m. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18 at Apostolic Faith Church of God, 680 Oak Street, Franklin with Apostle Randy Beale delivering the message of comfort; Overseer Ronnie Warren is pastor. The committal and benediction will follow in Southview Cemetery.
