NEWPORT NEWS – Anne Smith Copenhaver, 69, passed away Aug. 21, 2021 in the Riverside Regional Medical Center. Born and raised in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Smith and Mamie Taylor Smith Craft. She is also predeceased by a son, Dennis James “Jamie” Watson and a sister, Suzette Craun.
Anne was a graduate of Franklin High School. She was a retired x-ray technician and medical assistant.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Clarence Bennett “Cope” Copenhaver Jr.; her children, Michelle Smith Tomlin (Michael) and George Wade Watson Jr. (Melody Blount); her stepchildren, Anne Watson Bryant (Wiley), John David Watson and Nichole Copenhaver Rodriguez (Harry); two brothers, Bobby Smith (Sandy) and David Smith (Robin); 14 grandchildren, Amanda, Eliza, Kayla, Mia, Brooke, Tristan, Logan, Cricket, Sadie, Tyler, Ethan, Anthonio, Madison and Brooklynn; and two great-grandchildren, Christian and Ellianna.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27 in Wright Funeral Home with Dr. Reginald Warren officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to your favorite animal charity.
