FRANKLIN – Brenda Jarratt Nance, 67, passed away peacefully on Sept. 15, 2021 after a 20 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born in Petersburg and raised in Drewryville, she was a daughter of the late John Henry Jarratt and Gertrude Brockwell Jarratt.
Brenda was a 1972 graduate of Southampton High School and received an associate’s degree from Paul D. Camp Community College. She was a retired Clerk of the Court for Franklin City Combined Courts. Brenda grew up attending Thomas Memorial Baptist Church in Drewryville.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 46 years, Robert Rawls Nance Jr.; two sons, Chris Nance (Holly) of Franklin and Jeffrey Nance (Casey) of Yorktown; a sister, Rebecca Watts; two grandchildren, Madelyn and Carter Nance; a large extended family on the Jarratt side; and her precious grand dog, Roxie.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Hoyle Green officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, Drewryville, VA 23844.
The family would like to thank Brenda’s caregivers, Brenda Lee, Lillie Hunt, Robin Hudgins, Mary Boone, Annette Giles and Hailey Morgan, plus the staff of Bon Secours Southampton Medical Center and the East Pavilion for their comforting strength and loyalty during this pandemic.
