FRANKLIN – Thurman Dwight “Junior” Munford Jr., 46, passed away unexpectedly Nov. 21, 2021 at his home. He was born in Franklin and grew up in Unity. Junior was a graduate of Isle of Wight Academy and was an Agricultural Specialist 3/ Supervisor for the Department of Corrections. He was a well-known tractor puller, a top notch mechanic and a life-long farmer.

Junior grew up in Black Creek Baptist Church and attended Bethel Friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Amanda White Munford; his son, Thurman Dwight “Tripp” Munford III; his daughter, Rainey Sue Munford; his father and mother, Thurman and Martha Munford Sr.; his mom, Peggy Dunlow Darden; his sister, Stephanie R. Ricks (Brad); his brother, Thomas Jones; two nieces, Paisley Faith Benson and Claire Rainey White; and seven nephews, Thomas William Jones Jr., Trenton Whit Jones, Wells Bradford Ricks, Tucker Dean Worrell, Reed Allen Worrell, David Winston White III and Maddux Thomas Benson.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Blythe officiating. Burial will follow in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to VAFFA.ORG/donate.
