FRANKLIN – Wilson Scott “Scottie” Wesson, 75, took his last ride on Dec. 6, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family. Born in Richmond, but grew up in Wakefield and Emporia, he was the son of the late Wilson Turnbull Wesson and Dorothy Slayton Wesson. He was also predeceased by a son, Larry Edward “Wess” Wesson.
Scottie was a graduate of Fishburne Military Academy in Waynesboro and a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a line technician for Verizon for 32 years. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and had never met a stranger. He loved people, going to Myrtle Beach and doing yard work.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 27 years, Sheila Bowles Wesson; two sons, James “Hut” Hutson Wesson (Bekah) and Anthony Scott “Tony” Wesson (Pam); two sisters, Linda B. Tolson (Tom) and Elsie W. Rice (Jim); his stepchildren, Joseph Lee “Joey” Bowles (Monica), Kelly B. Griffith (Scott), Jamie Bowles and Jody Bowles; and 14 grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Scottie’s life from 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12 at the residence. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. They would like to thank the wonderful group of people at Medi Home Health and Hospice for their care and support.
