FRANKLIN – William Jesse Powell Jr., 76, passed away Dec. 17, 2021. He was born in Suffolk, the son of the late William Jesse Powell Sr. and Margaret Ilene Wiggins Powell. He was predeceased by his sister, Vicki Ricks. William retired as a battalion chief for the Suffolk Fire Department. He loved golfing, bowling, fishing, archery and hunting.

William is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Lee Reeves Powell; daughter, Sherri Babb (Terry); sons, William “Troy” Powell (Ginger), and Kenneth Powell (Tracy); grandchildren, Tyler Powell, Kayla Babb, Abby Babb, Harlee Powell and Kendle Powell; sister, Terry Lynn Dillard (Barry); brother, Ray Powell and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with fireman rites will be held on Monday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. David Sexton officiating.
