FRANKLIN – Iberê Bezerra de Menezes, 82, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022 at his home in Franklin, Virginia.
He was born March 29, 1940 in São Luis, Maranhão, Brazil to Eurides Bezerra de Menezes and Raimundo Macrino de Jesus. He graduated from Getúlio Vargas University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with a degree in business aministration. He enlisted in the Brazilian Army where he served for many years. He worked at Escelsa state electric company as a business analyst until retirement.
Iberê married his dream Argentinian girl, Esther Reyero, in December of 1968. The two were each other’s lifelong companions and friends for 46 years. They were blessed with two children, Renato and Christiani.
Iberê was a loving, generous, kind, spiritual, softly spoken, patient, devoted and wonderful husband, father and friend. He was an avid reader who loved talking about geography, politics, history, news and other topics. He loved nature, traveling and spending time with his family.
Iberê is survived by his son, Renato Menezes; daughter-in-law Eni Menezes; grandchildren, Rafael and Renata; and his daughter, Christiani Landrau; son-in-law, Nelson Landrau; and granddaughter, Luiza. He is also survived by six siblings.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
A family gathering will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 7 – 9 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at Poplar Spring Cemetery in Franklin.
