COURTLAND – Faye Harrell Green, 75, widow of James Stuart Green, who she was married to for 53 years, passed away July 25, 2022.
Faye was born and raised in Walters, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Harrell and Mollie Delbridge Harrell. She was also predeceased by her oldest brother, William Henry Harrell of Colosse and her sister, Mollie Harrell Bowles of Walters.
She was an honor graduate of Windsor High School. She was a member of Burdette Baptist Church and worked for Contel Telephone Company in Franklin (now known as Verizon) as a telephone oOperator and clerk. She was co-owner with her husband, James, of their family businesses, James S. Green Contractor Inc. and Southampton Self Storage, both located in Courtland.
Faye used to enjoy going to dances and NASCAR races with her husband and their friends. She enjoyed her time on the Nottoway River at Dockside boating and enjoying her river friends. Faye has always been known to her family and friends to be fashionably dressed with sparkles on her clothing.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Shari Gray; her favorite son-in-law, Carl and her two grandsons, Storm Gray (marrying Michaela Pulley in October) and Colby Gray. Also left to cherish her memory are her two sisters, Louise Jones and Linda Scott; two brothers, Jack and Roy Harrell and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 29 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Poe officiating. The family will have a reception following the service in the home of Shari and Carl Gray. Memorial donations made be made to any favorite charity.
