Franklin police arrest two in drug distribution search

The Franklin Police Department arrested a Franklin resident and a Southampton County resident in connection with a narcotics distribution search warrant Tuesday, Oct. 11.
An FPD news release stated that at around 4 p.m., officers responded to 211 Artis St. in Franklin to execute a narcotics distribution search warrant. Upon execution of the search warrant and subsequent search of the property, police said a large amount of narcotics, U.S. currency, packaging materials and two firearms were recovered.
The release noted that based upon the evidence recovered and the investigation by FPD personnel, Phyllis Ann Jordan, 65, a resident of Artis Street, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and Sherman House, 53, a resident of Bryant’s Church Road in Southampton County, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and distribution of a controlled substance.
Both Jordan and House are being held at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond, police said.
This investigation is ongoing. Additional information, to include additional charges, will be released as it becomes available.
“This search warrant, and the arrests it generated, are a prime example of the police and community working together to solve crime-related problems within the community,” FPD officials stated.
