The students and staff of Nottoway Elementary School have been showing off their love for reading with Birthday Books and Positive Referrals.
A school news release noted that every student receives the gift of a book to celebrate their birthdays. The students can also earn additional books through the Positive Behavior Referral Program.
Students who are caught doing something great can be written up by a staff member. They are then called to the office where they sit down with Principal Susan Street-Melbye to call home and share about the awesome things happening at school. After their call, the students then receive a gold token to select a book from the book vending machine.
“Just these first few weeks alone, Nottoway has given away more than 60 books,” NES officials said. “Keep falling in love with reading, Nottoway Cougars!”
