SUFFOLK – John Alfred “Al” Carr, 69, passed away March 14, 2023 in Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Franklin, he was a son of the late Joseph Robert “J.R.” Carr and Gertrude Carr. Al attended Franklin Public Schools and was a roofing contractor. Al was a free and easy spirit and a loyal friend to everyone. He is survived by two daughters, Chelsea Carr and Alison Carr of Wilmington, North Carolina; a sister, Joyce C. Crandall of Falls Church, Virginia; his girlfriend, Denise Smith of Suffolk and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Al’s life will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 in Wright Funeral Home.
