FRANKLIN – Carlton “Blue” Eure, 90, passed away March 23, 2023 in East Pavilion. Born in Eure, North Carolina.

Carlton was a 1952 graduate of Gatesville High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He was a retired maintenance foreman for S.W. Rawls Inc. with 27 years of service and was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church serving as an usher for several years and on the property committee.

Carlton loved planting a garden and working in his yard. He especially loved helping neighbors and friends. Fishing was his favorite hobby and he enjoyed spending time fishing with family and his fishing buddies.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ann Sawyer Eure; a daughter, Janet Eure Ambrose; a son, Steve C. Eure; a sister, Lois Eure Smith; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; extended children and many special family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26 in Franklin Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. James H. Hyatt Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church and suggests that memorial donations be made to Franklin Congregational Christian Church, 412 N. High Street, Franklin, VA 23851, Hunterdale Volunteer Fire Department, 201 Delaware Road, Franklin, VA 23851 or your favorite local charity.
