Pedestrian allegedly struck by car in Sedley

A resident of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, was airlifted to a medical facility May 8 after allegedly being struck by a vehicle in Sedley.
A Tuesday, May 23, Southampton County Sheriff’s Office news release stated that on May 8, deputies responded to Sedley Road near Pond Branch Road for a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
“Deputies arrived and found that a pedestrian identified as a 20-year-old male from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, had been struck by a vehicle,” SCSO officials said.
The release continued by stating that the man had been walking westbound on Sedley Road as a vehicle traveling in the same direction passed him. Police said that vehicle, a 2014 Honda sedan, was driven by a 22-year-old female from Franklin.
The pedestrian was transported to a medical facility by helicopter for hip, leg and back pain, the release stated.
“No summonses have been issued at this time, and the accident remains under investigation,” police said in the May 23 release.
