FISHERVILLE, Virginia – Patricia Ann Gambill Epperly, 77, of Stuarts Draft, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 27, 2023 in Fishersville. Patricia was born Nov. 29, 1945 in Marion, Virginia to the late Dale L. Gambill and the late Mary Cress Gambill.
Patricia graduated in 1963 from Marion Senior High School and several years later received her LPN license. She enjoyed her nursing career for 31 years, and retired in 2011 from Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center. Patricia loved being a teacher for the Children’s Sunday School Class at Franklin Baptist Church and more recently was a member of Harriston Christian C
enter. She worked several years as a private duty nurse and was employed at the former Avante Nursing Home of Waynesboro. Her interest included sewing, water skiing, her love and care for pets, hiking and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary G. Perkins.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Paul R. Epperly; children, Peter Grissom and his wife, Cheryl of Forest, Virginia, Brent Epperly and his wife, Dara of North Garden, Virginia and Sara Ross and her husband, Jamie of Fishersville; grandchildren, Tyler Grissom, Brandon Grissom, Dylan McNeal, Reagan Epperly, Carter Epperly and Eli Have; great-grandchildren, Hazel, Jade and Willow Grissom and a brother, Dale Gambill of Austin, Texas.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Retreat at Fishersville and the Augusta Hospice of the Shenandoah. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 1 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 2 in the chapel of Charlton and Groome Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Pete Grissom, Brent Epperly, Tyler Grissom, Brandon Grissom, Dylan McNeal and Carter Epperly. Honorary pallbearers will be Reagan Epperly and Eli Have. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. on June 2 at Evergreen Cemetery in Roanoke, Virginia. Those attending will meet directly at the cemetery.
