Windsor High School made its presence known at the 2023 Virginia High School League Class 2 Outdoor Track and Field State Championships, with junior Tim Butler leading the way for the Dukes by winning the state title in the boys discus throw and setting a state record as he did it.
Butler set that record by throwing the discus 160 feet and 9 inches during the meet, which took place at James Madison University in Harrisonburg across Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3.
Butler also came in second in the boys shot put with a 48-foot, 10-inch throw.
Windsor junior Zimare Pearson earned a second-place finish in the boys high jump, tying two other student-athletes with a 6-foot, 2-inch leap.
The Windsor boys ended up placing ninth overall at the state meet out of 35 teams that generated points.
Junior Keaera Kea-Towns put the Windsor girls team on the scoreboard by earning eighth place in the girls 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.63 seconds.
