FRANKLIN – Jane Harrison Duran, 80, passed away to be joined with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 4, 2023 in Quillacollo, Bolivia. Jane was the daughter of the late Jesse and Ruth Harrison of Franklin, Virginia. She graduated from Longwood University. She was a teacher at Forest Glen High School and later served as an employee of Franklin Social Services. Also, she taught at Rock Church School. Since 1988, Jane has been serving as an educational missionary from Rock Church Franklin in Vinton, Bolivia. She worked with Pastors Marcus and Jennifer Morris. Her primary labor of love was to help the Morrises pioneer Agua Viva de la Roca Christian School, which continues to flourish with over 400 students.

She poured her heart and soul into the students of Agua Viva. Jane’s husband, Jorge, is the school chaplain. Her daughter, Jessica, is a teacher there. Jane was devoted to helping people grow in their relationship with the Lord. She was very hospitable and renowned for her culinary expertise. Jane was a lover of people and a great servant of God. She was especially burdened for those who were impoverished and in need of the Lord. Jane was very proud of her son, John David, who is a certified airplane mechanic.

Left to honor and cherish her memory is Jorge Duran, her husband of 34 years; one son, John David Duran (Anna); one daughter, Jessica Quispe (Abdi) and six grandchildren who brought her great joy: Sofi, Abigail, Seth, Michelle, Mia and Emma. A service was held in Quillacollo, Bolivia on July 6. Memorial donations for Agua Viva de la Roca School can be made to Rock Church Franklin, 130 Lakeview Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
