Capron resident arrested in connection with stabbing

Southampton County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Capron resident after responding to a call Tuesday, July 18, indicating that someone had been stabbed.
A sheriff’s office news release stated that at approximately 10:22 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies responded to the 24000 block of Bryants Church Road in reference to someone being stabbed.
Deputies arrived and found a male subject who had been allegedly stabbed with a steak knife on the back side of his right hip during a domestic dispute, the release noted, adding that deputies secured the scene for emergency medical services to respond, and that subject was transported to Bon Secours – Southampton Medical Center for treatment.
Police said that deputies investigated the incident and ultimately arrested Lisa Scott Smith, 45, of Capron. Smith was charged with Virginia Code 18.2-51, malicious wounding. Smith was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
