The city of Franklin issued an urgent notice via social media Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 9, for people to avoid the area of South Street and Artis Street where emergency services personnel are in the process of responding to an emergency situation.
As of 6:30 p.m., Virginia State Police and Franklin Police Department reportedly remained on the scene of a homicide on Artis Street. The nearby streets remained blocked off.
