IVOR – Sidney Roscoe Simms, 80, passed away Aug. 16, 2023 at home. Born in Southampton County, he was the son of the late Roscoe Wilson Simms and Bertha Jones Simms. He was also predeceased by a son, Rodney Scott Simms; two sisters, Pearl Simms and Patricia Parker; and a b

Sidney was a member of Ivor United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Emily Babb Simms; a son, Lance Simms (Amy); two sisters, Judy Turner (Roland) and Luanne White (Johnny); two grandchildren, Brendan and Bryce Simms; a niece, Angie Mavredes (Michael); three nephews, Travis Butler, David Turner and Chris Turner.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21 in Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Courtland Youth Athletic Association, 24224 Storys Station Road, Courtland, VA 23837.
