Tropical storm warning, flood watch in effect

A tropical storm warning and a flood watch are in effect for Southampton and Isle of Wight counties and the city of Franklin according to the National Weather Service.
The flood watch is in effect through late Saturday evening, Sept. 23.
A tropical storm warning, affecting Franklin and Courtland, means tropical storm-force winds are
expected somewhere within this area within the next 36 hours.
The latest local forecast indicates there will be below tropical storm force wind, with peak wind being 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph.
Peak rainfall amounts are expected to be an additional 3-6 inches, with locally higher amounts.
The NWS also warns that according to the latest local forecast, the situation is favorable for tornadoes.
