Local law enforcement is investigating an alleged armed robbery at a Dollar General store in Ivor on Tuesday evening, Oct. 17, and is searching for two suspects.
A Southampton County Sheriff’s Office news release stated that county deputies were called at around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday to respond to a robbery that had occurred at the Dollar General on Broadwater Road and General Mahone Boulevard in Ivor.
“Deputies arrived and were informed that two Black males had entered the store with hoods, masks and gloves on and that one of the men was armed with a pistol,” Maj. Camden Cobb said. “The men demanded money and after receiving it left the store on foot and ran in the direction of Brown’s Avenue.”
The Virginia State Police were called and attempted a K-9 track and assisted with canvassing the area around the store.
The release continued by noting that one male is described as approximately 6 feet tall, and the other is described as approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall. Additional details of their description are not available.
“Detectives are investigating this incident,” Cobb said. “Store security photos of the suspects are included. Detectives also believe that a small dark-colored sedan was possibly involved. No further information on the vehicle has been confirmed.”
