FRANKLIN – Jean Howell Drewry, 77, passed away Oct. 31, 2023, with her daughter by her side. Born in Isle of Wight County on Dec. 7, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Linwood Nelson Howell and Margaret Ann Butler Howell. She was also predeceased by a son, Michael Nelson Ballard; two sisters, Elizabeth Cutchins and

Marjorie Whitley; a brother, James L. Howell; and a son-in-law, Kenny Coggsdale.

Jean was a graduate of Windsor High School and she worked as a medical secretary and transcriptionist for more than 30 years. She worked for several physician offices, with her longest tenure at Family Practice Associates. Jean was beautiful, funny and kind. She will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Lorrie Coggsdale (Doug Anthony) of Suffolk; a sister, Audrey Jenkins (John) of Carrsville; three grandchildren, Zach Coggsdale (Michelle), Jacob Coggsdale (Kelsie) and Maggie Coggsdale; two great-grandchildren, Sofia and Ben Coggsdale; and a very dear friend, Tammy Newsom.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11 in Wright Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to CHKD Hematology Oncology Division, 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507.
