ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Amanda (Mandy) Miller Bontrager, 89, of Zanesville passed unexpectedly into her Heavenly Father’s loving arms, on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, her late husband’s birthday. Mandy lived her life pleasing the Lord. She was loved by everyone and known for her caramel popcorn, cinnamon rolls, tapioca pudding and homemade hot chocolate, among other dishes at church and family gatherings. Mandy also always had a scripture off her door for you to grab as you walked out to leave her home, adamant that you take one, even if you were a repairman.

Her faithfulness to pray for her family, friends and any other requests she would receive, early each morning, was an example of her faithfulness to her Savior. She loved the Lord with all her heart and wanted everyone to know the Lord as their personal Savior, just as she had. She was a light shining in the darkness. All who knew or met her met ‘Grandma Mandy,’ a loving and smiling face where a joke was not far off. She cared for every living thing, including her bird, Daisy and her cats and would never even harm an ant. She loved to laugh, make others smile and worship her Lord and Savior.

Mandy attended Kent State University for interior design, as well as graduated at the top of her class at Bible College in Upstate New York. Would it surprise you to know that she was a pen pal for a prisoner?

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman; their son, Myron and daughter, Connie Joy; her sisters, Sylvia, Mary and Clara and her brothers, Andy, Les and Eli.

Leaving to grieve her are her four daughters, Faith (Dave) Kumher of Lexington, Oklahoma, Juanita (Donald) Richards of Courtland, Virginia, Twila (Jason) Rogers of Centerburg, Ohio, Lila (Rick) Wayne of Hebron, Ohio. grandchildren, Mandi (Ben) Wood, Michael (Amanda) Kumher, Elizabeth Kumher, Ryan Richards, Abigayle (Cody) Shepherd, Olivia (Jordan) Miller, Harrison Rogers, Charity (Scot) Guerard, Heather (Mike) Newman, Brandon Jordan and Lauren (Drew) Abdalla. Along with 34 great-grandchildren. Additionally, are her siblings, John (Helen) Miller and Enda Hershberger.

A special thank you to all the Creedmoor Drive neighbors for the time and love you have shared and showed over the years.
