FRANKLIN – Shirley Johnson Mason, 95, passed away Dec. 20, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Shirley was a native of Handsom and a daughter of the late James Clee Johnson Sr. and Pearl Ritter Johnson. She was also predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Raymond Eugene Mason, a sister, Ruby J. Wiggins and three brothers, Luke, Boots and J.C. Johnson Jr.

Shirley was a graduate of Newsoms High School, a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church and a longtime Franklin beautician.

Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Mason Montgomery (Gary) of Amelia Courthouse; two sons, Greg Mason (Belinda), Ronnie Mason (Pat), both of Franklin; four grandchildren, Cheryl M. Drake (Eric), Brent R. Mason (Stephanie), Austin Montgomery (Taylor), Hunter Montgomery (London Bockman); five great-grandchildren, Brooklynn and Garrett Drake, Dawson Joyner, Avalynn Mason and Isla Montgomery and her beloved cat, Baby.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23 at Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Faison officiating. The family will receive friends at Shirley’s home at 27172 Beale Road in Franklin and suggests that memorial donations be made to any favorite charity.

The family would like to thank Shirley’s caretakers, Candi, Kathy, Ebony, Tica, Gloria, Jennifer and Angie with Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful care of our mother.
