The Windsor High School varsity girls basketball team made easy work out of their Friday, Dec. 15, road matchup against Franklin High School, winning 54-27.
The Lady Dukes took control of the game from the tipoff and held the home team scoreless for all of the opening minutes. At the half Windsor was up 29-16.
In the third quarter, the Lady Dukes pumped in 20 points while holding the Lady Broncos to just two points.
Franklin fans had reason to cheer and applaud despite the loss, however, and they showed their support each time freshman Aaliyah Gatling hit one of her four three-pointers for the game.
Leading the Lady Dukes on offense for the game were senior guard Keaera Kea-Towns and senior center Shamyah Stephenson, who each scored 16 points, while junior forward Mariah Stephenson added 12 points.
Gatling finished with 12 points for Franklin.
Windsor Head Coach Malcolm Greene was pleased with the Lady Dukes’ performance.
“The team played good, executed and did all the little things well tonight,” he said. “They moved the ball well and played to our best capability. I think we can play a little bit better, but we’ve got to work on it. We have a few more things to work on, but it was a good win for us tonight.”
On Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 5:30 p.m., Windsor (4-4) hosts Nandua High School, and Franklin (2-6) visits Westmoreland High School.
