SMITHFIELD – Donna Delores Hayes, a loving mother, aunt and sister, passed away on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News. She was born to the late Donald and Mildred Hull in Tucson, Arizona. Donna was a giving and compassionate caretaker during her career in Home Health. She loved animals, especially horses. Donna enjoyed line dancing, bowling, playing pool and golf. She volunteered her time t

o the VFW and American Legion. During her retirement she began to travel and visit family, where she enjoyed discovering new places and meeting new people.

She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Hull; mother, Mildred Hull; loving husband, David Hayes; sister, Rebecca Sager and nephew, Shelton Hughes.

Donna is survived by her son, Randal Wyrick; brothers, Richard Hull and Allan (Donna) Hull; and nieces and nephews, Sandy (Rocky) Johns, Jodi (John) Reinhardt, Chrissy (Brian) Linzy, Brittany Hull, Christina Mills, John Thomas Capsalis, Sharon Brady and Ron Weade.

A celebration of life will occur on Sunday, Jan. 28 from 2 – 6 p.m. at VFW Smithfield, 223 Washington Street in Smithfield. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made directly to the Smithfield VFW Post 8545 or American Legion Post 49.
