SUFFOLK – Robert Lee “Root” “Bully” Turner was born in Suffolk on Aug, 21, 1940 to the late Pearl and Rosser Turner.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Patricia Rideout; daughter, Pam Yeager; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Jory; brother, Joel Turner and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was a graduate of Suffolk High School and remained a resident of Suffolk for most of his life. He was a member of Suffolk Elks Lodge No. 685. He was an avid Washington Redskins and Virginia Tech Hokies fan. He loved tailgating with good friends and cold beer. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and attended many events with his friends. Robert was a land surveyor and landscaper until his retirement. He loved working outdoors and took pride in his beautiful yards.
Robert’s funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28 at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Clyde Alderman officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery in Sedley. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27 at the funeral home.
