DREWRYVILLE – Mr. Bert Travis Ramsey III, 70, of Drewryville went to his eternal heavenly home on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Lynn H. Ramsey; his father, Bert Travis Ramsey Jr. and brother, Gary Ramsey.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Jason Ramsey (Betty); daughter, Amy Hinson (Jonathan); grandchildren, Andrew Hinson and Natalie Hinson; mother, Catherine “Kitty” P. Ramsey; sister, Kay Ramsey and sister-in-law, Betty J. Ramsey.
Travis was an automotive mechanic and retired from the Department of Corrections with 42 years of service. He was a mainstay in the Drewryville community and was a former member of the Drewryville Ruritan Club and Drewryville Fire Department and a current member of Joyner-Gray Yale Ruritan Club. He also took pride in helping family and neighbors with auto repairs never asking for anything in return. His favorite title was “DD” as he was called by his grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and fisherman spending many hours hunting and fishing with friends and family. He was a member of Adams Grove Hunt Club and Flat Swamp Hunt Club. He enjoyed the outdoors and grow
ing a big garden to share with family and friends.
The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, Feb. 22 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home at 303 S. Halifax Road, Jarratt, Virginia. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23 at Owen Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Drewryville Cemetery.
