A single-vehicle crash in Franklin on Thursday morning, Feb. 22, resulted in a heavily damaged, overturned tractor-trailer and minor injuries to a man, according to a report from the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office.
An SCSO news release stated that the sheriff’s office received a call at 8:25 a.m. on Thursday for an overturned tractor-trailer with unknown injuries in the 21000 block of Black Creek Road.
Upon arrival of deputies, it was determined to be a single-vehicle crash with heavy damage to the tractor-trailer, officials stated in the release, adding that one adult male was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. No summons was issued to the driver of the tractor-trailer as a result of the crash.
The release noted that the Virginia Department of Transportation was requested for traffic control. Black Creek Road was still shut down between Dixie Farm Road and Harris Road as of 12:30 p.m., when the release was sent out. VDOT had detours in place to reroute traffic. VDOT had estimated the above-mentioned section of Black Creek Road would remain shut down until approximately 1 p.m.
The sheriff’s office sent an update at 4:30 p.m. stating, “VDOT is now clear, and Black Creek Road is now open to thru traffic.”
