NAGS HEAD, North Carolina – Samuel Cobb “Sammy” Cotton, 76, passed away Feb. 27, 2024 in Peak Resources-Outer Banks. Born and raised in Franklin, he was a son of the late Robert Howard Cotton Sr. and Margaret Whitfield Cotton.

Sammy was a graduate of Franklin High School and a retired banker. He was a long-time resident of Richmond during his working years. Sammy was a member of the Silver Riders Bicycling Club.

Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Suzanne Cotton Councill of Manakin-Sabot, Virginia; a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and a great nephew and niece.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 1 in Poplar Spring Cemetery in Franklin with the Rev. Dr. Charles Qualls officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Sammy’s memory to your favorite Humane Society.
