Chief Walt “Red Hawk” Brown, pictured in center in the tall headdress, and other members of the Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe of Southampton County put on a tribal native history presentation on March 19 at Brookwood Elementary School in Virginia Beach for a group of 110 second grade students. The school donated $1,000 to the Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe’s Tribal Heritage Foundation for the presentation. Brown thanked the following tribal members for the support they gave him during the presentation: Karen Barrett, Beverly El, Bernard Wright, William Lamb Howell, Teresa Preston, Rebecca Winslow and Colette Hayworth.
