Mark Middlecoop, public affairs officer for Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 05-09 of Smithfield, was the guest speaker at a recent Smithfield Kiwanis Club meeting. He provided an overview of the Coast Guard Auxiliary mission, spoke on boating safety issues and answered a wide range of questions from Kiwanis members. Anyone interested in joining Kiwanis can come to the club’s Thursday meetings at 12:30 p.m. at Smithfield Station to enjoy fellowship and lunch. Kiwanis is dedicated to serving the youth in the community.  The club generally has guest speakers on the second and third Thursdays of the month.
