Carrie Johnson, alumna of Franklin High School’s Class of 1992, has forged a remarkable journey since her graduation. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Communication from Old Dominion University, Carrie delved into the realm of law, pursuing studies at the esteemed T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. However, it was in the field of education that Carrie found her true calling. She dedicated herself to shaping the minds of both youth and adults, starting her teaching career with Kaplan Test Prep and Sylvan Learning Centers. Her passion for education led her to contribute significantly to various institutions, including Franklin City Public Schools, Norfolk Public Schools, and the Virginia Department of Corrections, where she has served for over 15 years and helped hundreds earn their GED credential.
Beyond her impactful work in education, Carrie is an active member at Rock Church of Franklin and serves her community as the at-large representative for the Franklin City School Board. Her leadership was exemplified during her term as Vice Chair when she brought a wealth of experience and dedication to her role.
Carrie’s personal life is equally fulfilling. She shares her life with her husband, Daniel (FHS Class of 1994). Together, they are proud parents to Joshua, who graduated in 2019, Jordan, Class of 2023, and Gabrielle, who is set to graduate in 2024.
Carrie Johnson’s unwavering commitment to education, community service, and family make her a shining example of the values instilled at Franklin High School, earning her the well-deserved recognition as Alumni of the Month.
