Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office reported arresting a Newport News man May 16 on multiple felonies related to the creation of child sexual abuse material.
A May 22 sheriff’s office news release identified the Newport News man as 38-year-old Aric Charles Hutson.
The news release noted that in August 2023, the sheriff’s office was notified of a possible child exploitation offense involving an Isle of Wight County juvenile.
“Isle of Wight investigators applied for and obtained multiple search warrants for Mr. Hutson’s electronics,” IWCSO officials stated. “After being analyzed by our Digital Forensic Unit, we were able to confirm the images as CSAM and that the abuse was isolated to a single-juvenile victim. The digital forensic exam discovered multiple recordings of the victim without knowledge or consent dating back to 2022.”
Officials noted that the sheriff’s office took out warrants and arrested Hutson in Surry County. He is being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
