BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia – Robert “Bob” Eugene McCoy Jr., 86, of Bridgeport, West Virginia, died with family at his side on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at WVU United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. Born in Welch, West Virginia on June 11, 1937, Bob was the son of the late Robert Eugene McCoy Sr. and Grace Curry McCoy.

On September 28, 2017, Bob married his wife, Nancy Carol McCoy. They shared eight wonderful years filled with love, laughter and beautiful memories.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy Carol McCoy; two sons, Billie Lee Runyon Jr. and wife, Martha, of Richmond, Virginia and Dr. Douglas Tice of Cumberland, Maryland; one daughter, Carolyn Jean Keith of Denver Colorado; three grandchildren, Tiffany Bowles and husband, Danny of Richmond, Virginia and Maximus and Annabelle Tice both of Cumberland, Maryland; one great-grandchild, Daemeion Bowles; and one great-great-grandchild, Phoenix Nicole Bowles.

Bob was a 1955 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Kanawha County. He served in the U.S. Airforce, 1624th Support Squadron, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia from 1956 to 1959. He graduated from WVU with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Maryland. He was a distinguished professional, dedicated 25 years of his career to International Paper formally known as Union Camp Corporation and retired as the vice president of sales and marketing.

Bob was an active member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 151 as well as the WVU Mountaineer Athletic Club. He loved music and would turn up a Jimmy Buffet tune and smile. He enjoyed golf, all sports and especially his beloved WVU Mountaineers.

Bob’s faith was deeply rooted in the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Weston. Bob will be remembered as a loyal friend and someone who loved life, laughing and telling stories. He touched the lives of all he encountered and will be missed by those who loved him.

A graveside service will be held at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024 with Pastor Bruce Macbeth officiating.
