SUFFOLK – Our dear mother, Roberta Atkins Raiford, 84, of Suffolk, passed away on June 11, 2024.

Roberta was born on July 29, 1939, to George William Atkins and Mildred Wheeler Atkins of Sussex County, Virginia, then later moved to the Town of Waverly.

Roberta was predeceased by her parents, George and Mildred Atkins and her husband of 44 years, Philip Raiford Jr. She is survived by her three children, Philip Raiford III (Cyndi), Jennifer R. Metcalf (Steve) and Jeannie R. Outlaw (Chad) and her grandchildren, Georgia and Stephen Metcalf and Caitlin and Lauren Outlaw.

Family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, June 20 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at R.W. Baker & Company Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel, 11414 General Mahone Highway, Wakefield, VA 23888.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Waverly Congregational Christian Church or to a favorite charity.
