Candidates sought for ninth Wall of Excellence class

The opportunity remains available through Sunday, June 30, to nominate someone to take his or her rightful place on the Franklin Community Wall of Excellence this year. 

As noted in a Franklin City Public Schools news release, the Wall of Excellence was created to honor former Franklin and Hayden High School students who have excelled or distinguished themselves through personal and/or professional success, and to also acknowledge community members who have made significant contributions to FCPS. 

FIVE CATEGORIES OF NOMINATION

  1. Academic or Career. A graduate who has achieved outstanding accomplishments in his or  her career. 
  2. Cultural/Performing Arts. A graduate recognized in the performing arts. A graduate  contributing to the promotion of cultural activities. 
  3. Athletic Accomplishment. A graduate with records achieved at the district level or above. A graduate who was a state winner or qualifier. A graduate with recognized accomplishments at the post-secondary, professional or coaching levels. 
  4. Outstanding Service to FHS or HHS. A graduate or non-graduate who has supported and/or advanced the school’s name and philosophy. Exemplary influence in the lives of FHS or HHS students. 
  5. Special Honorary Achievement. To honor a worthy person who may or may not have graduated from FHS or HHS. The nominee may have provided some very special situation for which the committee might wish to use this recognition. 

NOMINEE REQUIREMENTS

  • Nominees should have established themselves as a good example for Franklin or Hayden  High School in one of the nomination areas. 
  • Nominees must have graduated from Franklin or Hayden High School 10 years prior to  nomination. 
  • Nomination of non-Franklin or Hayden High School graduates can only be accepted for the category of “Special Honorary Achievement” and “Outstanding Service to FHS or HHS.”
  • Nominations must be submitted by Sunday, June 30, to be considered for induction that year and must include a resumé prepared by the nominator. 

To nominate a former Franklin High School or Hayden High School graduate or a non FHS/HHS graduate to the Wall of Excellence, complete the online nomination form by the deadline stated above. The form can be found by searching for “online nomination form” at www.fcpsva.org.
