The Franklin Community Wall of Excellence (FCWOE) honors distinguished alumni, staff, and administrators from Franklin City Public Schools who have achieved significant career success or made notable contributions to the schools or the community. This year, FCWOE proudly announces its 2024 inductees, recognized for their exceptional career accomplishments. The inductees are:
• Daniel T. Balfour (FHS Class of 1959)
• Amy K. Cheatham, PhD (FHS Class of 1993)
• James P. “Jim” Councill, III (FHS Class of 1963)
• Wyatt B. Durette, Jr. (FHS Class of 1955)
• The late Charles F. “Chip” Kingery, Jr. (FHS Class of 1972)
• Dr. Chiquita Seaborne (FHS Class of 1995)
The FCWOE Board of Directors selects inductees from one of five categories: Academic or Career; cultural/Performing Arts; athletic accomplishment; Outstanding Service; or Special Honorary Achievement. The Board consistently receives high-caliber applicants, and this year is no exception. Inductees, both past and future, have made significant impacts on the schools, the community, and the overall quality of life for many individuals.
The new inductees will be introduced during halftime at the Franklin – Sussex football game on Friday, Oct. 25, with the game kicking off at 7 p.m. The formal induction ceremony will take place at a dinner at Cypress Cove Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 26. Tickets for the dinner are available to the public, priced at $40 per adult and $25 for children aged 12 and under. The event begins with a social hour at 5 PM, followed by dinner at 6 PM, and the induction ceremony immediately thereafter.
To purchase tickets for the dinner, please contact Nancy Parrish at 757-562-2458 (home) or 757-334-0476 (cell), or by email at landnparrish@gmail.com. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance. The FCWOE also welcomes nominations for future inductees.
