Franklin man arrested on weapons charges

On Aug. 21, 2024, detectives from the City of Franklin Police Department, in collaboration with agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), executed a firearms search warrant in the 300 block of Clay Street in Franklin. The search led to the arrest of Reginald Isiah Burney, who is currently being held without bond at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

Burney faces charges of two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use or possession of a machine gun for aggressive purposes, and obstruction of justice. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine how Burney obtained the weapons.
