Arrest made in alleged Rose Valley Road stabbing incident

Southampton County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Franklin man in connection with a stabbing incident in the city that allegedly took place in a vehicle in the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 24.
An SCSO news release stated that on Aug. 24 at around 3:40 a.m., Southampton County deputies responded to Bon Secours – Southampton Medical Center in reference to an adult male who had been stabbed in the back.
The adult male reported being stabbed while in a vehicle in the 26000 block of Rose Valley Road, SCSO officials stated in the release. Officials added that the alleged offender was known to the victim and was identified as Reginald Jerome Cross, 54, of Franklin.
The release stated that deputies obtained warrants for the arrest of Cross for malicious wounding, a felony, in violation of the Code of Virginia, 18.2-51.
“Cross was arrested by Southampton deputies around 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 24, and he was transported to the Southampton County Jail,” SCSO Maj. Camden Cobb said. “He is being held without bond.”
The release concluded by noting that Cross’ first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 9 a.m. in Southampton General District Court.
