FRANKLIN – Margaret Cobb Burgess, 101, passed away Oct. 2, 2024 in The Village at Woods Edge. A lifelong resident of Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Frank Morris Cobb and Margaret Whitley Cobb. She was also predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Calvin Rawls Burgess; a daughter, Ellen Burgess Williams; three sisters, Fay C. Shelton, Mary C. Blythe and Frances C. Roberts; a brother, William M. Cobb and a grandchild, Christopher Williams.

Margaret was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.

Gratton (John) of Atlanta, Georgia and Myra Burgess (Bobby) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; five grandchildren, Jonathan Grattan, Matthew Grattan, Andrew Grattan, Amanda Williams and Jennifer West; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and her three special friends who were like daughters, Jennifer Harrell, Denise Harcum and Ira Witt.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Tracey Pugh officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Sycamore Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Village at Woods Edge and Margaret’s dedicated sitters, Vickie, Angelea, Tess, Laverne, Delores, Queen, Kendra, Felicia, Rachel and Rita.
