FRANKLIN – Rebecca “Becky” Hasty Kitchen, 81, passed away Oct. 9, 2024 in Amelia Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Born and raised in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Ryland L. and Mary Joyner Hasty. She was also predeceased by her husband, David Radcliffe Kitchen Jr.; a son, David R. Kitchen II

Becky was a 1961 graduate of Franklin High School and a graduate of Southampton Memorial Hospital practical nursing program. She was a LPN at OBGYN Physicians for over 50 years. Becky loved all things Disney, especially Mickey Mouse, trips to Disney World and Disney cruises with her family and friends. She attended Kingdom Impact Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Melissa Kitchen Gayle of Powhatan; a brother, James Bradley “Brad” Hasty (Judy) of Franklin; two grandchildren, Bradley David Gayle (Katie McIver, MD) of Richmond and Andrew Brian Gayle of Powhatan; a sister-in-law, Susan Kitchen of Yorktown; two honorary grandsons, Nathan Horton and Wade May; and numerous cousins and friends including the athletes and families of Area 6 Special Olympics.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13 at Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Kidd officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Area 6 Special Olympics-Powhatan, c/o Pat Fowler, 2412 Georges Road, Powhatan, VA 23139.
