Meherrin Elementary School welcomed some special guests Friday, Oct. 11, as it honored Fire Safety Week: Newsoms Volunteer Fire Department and Boykins Volunteer Fire Department. A school news release noted that the entire student body had the opportunity to see a firetruck and an ambulance, as well as hear about the importance of fire safety both at school and at home. School officials expressed gratitude to all of the fire department and EMS volunteers who gave so generously of their time to share such crucial information with the Meherrin Eagles.
