FRANKLIN – Margaret Johnson DeLoatch Gayle, 88, passed away Oct. 28, 2024 in East Pavilion. Born in Northampton County, North Carollina, she was the daughter of the late David Wallace Johnson and Nellie Collier Simpson. She was predeceased by her first husband, David M. DeLoatch, her second husband, Charles R. Gayle, Sr., a brother, Horace Johnson and a grandson, Jeffrey Holt.

Margaret was a 1953 graduate of Seaboard High School and was a retired LPN for Dr. Fred Ward and Dr. Ben Goodman after 29 years. She was a longtime active member of Franklin Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Denise D. Keane (Jim) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Amy D. Carr (Sammy) of Zuni, Connie M. Holt (Vince) of Franklin; six grandchildren, Dana Rogers (Jeff), Cliff Carr, Ryan Mattocks (Colleen), April Boyce, Martin Carr (Dana) and Michael Holt (Michaela); and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1 in Wright Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Qualls and the Rev. Steve Gibson officiating. Burial will follow the service in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Franklin Baptist Church.
