SUFFOLK – David Mason Lankford, 92, passed away Nov. 11, 2024 in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born and raised in Southampton County, he was the son of the late David Lankford Jr. and Lois Martin Lankford.

Mason was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War, was a local Holland barber for over 60 years and the owner of Mason’s Barber Shop. He was a former member of the Holland Ruritan Club and former Assistant Fire Chief of the Holland Fire Department. Mason was a member of Holland Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 69 years, Shirley Britt Lankford; his son, Darrell Lankford and his wife, Elaine and a grandson, Nicholas Lankford.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 i

n Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Holland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Holland Baptist Church Building Fund.
