LAWRENCEVILLE – Carolyn Lynda Bishop Sykes went home to be with her Lord on Nov. 19, 2024, in her home among family and friends. She was born in Franklin, Virginia, on Feb. 3, 1944, and was preceded in death by her parents, Walter R. Bishop and Lynda W. Bishop and her beloved son-in-law, John Robert Wilson Jr.

Sykes Jr.; their daughter Sandra “Sandy” Sykes Wilson; their grandchildren, John Robert “Trey” Wilson III (Katie) and Laura Annette Wilson; special cousin, Allen Story and special caregiver, Hattie Pearson.

Carolyn graduated from Southampton High School, a proud member of the class of 1962 and attended Louisburg College. Both before and after marrying and raising her daughter, her work history included several stints as a fiscal assistant in local government.

A lifelong United Methodist, Carolyn was a member of Lawrenceville United Methodist Church and its Chancel Choir for over 50 years. She held many positions in her church, including being its treasurer for more than 20 years. She was an outgoing Red Hatter who loved her family, her church, her community and her many, many friends.

Her homegoing service will be held on Friday, Nov. 22nd at 1 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Franklin with Pastor Blair O’Quinn and Pastor Seonyoung Kim officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Lawrenceville. The family will receive friends at the home. Flowers are welcomed or donations may be made to the General Fund of Lawrenceville United Methodist Church.
