IVOR – Alice Raines Joyner, 85, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Alice Hill and Thomas Morton Raines Sr. and she was predeceased by a brother, Thomas M. Raines Jr.

Alice graduated from Wakefield High School and Longwood University. For many years she taught fourth grade at Tidewater Academy and for over 60 years she was the organist for Ivor Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, H. Massey

Joyner; children Keith Joyner and wife Kelly, and Karen Joyner Halman; grandchildren, Lindsay Cutrell (Bryant), Sarah Houck (Garrett), Shelby Crocker (Daniel) and Garrett Billups; great-grandchildren Ariel Cutrell, Theodore Houck and Violet Houck and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. at R.W. Baker & Company Funeral Home and Crematory, Wakefield Chapel, 111414 General Mahone Highway, Wakefield VA 23888 by Pastor Don Roberts. Burial will follow in the Wakefield Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Ivor Baptist Church, 8506 Bell Avenue, Ivor, VA 23866.
