A Franklin man who was arrested in May on three counts of possession of child pornography pleaded guilty to these charges in Southampton Circuit Court on Nov. 21, according to the Virginia Courts Case Information system.

In a May 31 news release, the City of Franklin Police Department reported receiving information from the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program in reference to James Drewry, 60, of Franklin.

Acting upon that information, detectives applied for and obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 300 block of Robinhood Road in Franklin, police said, adding that as a result of that search, multiple items were taken to include images of child pornography.

The release stated that Drewry was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography.

The Virginia Courts Case Information system states that Drewry pleaded not guilty to these charges at his arraignment on Oct. 7 but then pleaded guilty on Nov. 21. A pre-sentence report is set for Feb. 4, 2025.
